Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
No you do not need a referral to access Live Bright Physiotherapy services. In Australia, Physiotherapists in the private setting are first contact practitioners, which means that you do not need a referral to see us. If your Doctor or Specialist has provided you with a referral please still bring it along. If your GP has referred you via an Enhanced Primary Care Plan for subsidised sessions, you will need a referral for this.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes, if your private health insurance covers physiotherapy as an extra. Medipass claiming is available for on the spot processing for participating private health insurers. If your private health fund is not participating in online claiming, you will need to cover your consult on the spot and we will provide you with an invoice to give to your health fund to obtain your rebate. The rebate will differ depending on your level of cover so we recommend speaking to your Health Insurance company first.
How long does my appointment go for?
Initial appointments go for 60 minutes to allow enough time for your physiotherapist to get to know you and conduct a thorough assessment to inform an individualised treatment plan. Follow up appointments are 30 minutes unless extra time is required for complex cases or multiple areas of concern which will require a 45 or 60 minute follow up appointment.
What do I need to do prior to my first appointment?
Please fill out the new patient registration form that will be sent to you after booking your appointment so no time is wasted in your initial appointment. Please bring along any referrals, medical imaging or information relevant to your visit for your physiotherapist.
What do I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?
Please wear clothes that are easy to move in and allow access to the area of complaint if possible.
What should I expect in my first physiotherapy consult?
During your initial appointment your physiotherapist will obtain a thorough history from you about your presenting complaint and medical history to ensure they can provide the most appropriate and safe treatment options for you. A thorough physical assessment will be completed before an individualised treatment plan is discussed with you.
What to do if you need to cancel within 24hours notice?
At Live Bright Physiotherapy we do not have a late cancellation fee as we understand that things come up. However, we do ask that if you need to cancel your appointment and are able to give up 24 hours notice that would be greatly appreciated so other patients are able to take your spot.
Do you accept Work Cover or DVA patients?
Currently, Live Bright Physiotherapy is not set up for these types of patients but this may be something we might look to offer in the future.
Do you accept enhanced primary care plans (EPC)?
Yes, if you have a referral from your GP you can receive up to 5 subsidised sessions with a physiotherapist at Live Bright Physiotherapy. Please note these sessions do not cover 100% of our fee and there will be a gap payment. Full payment will be taken up front and you will receive a medicare rebate into your nominated bank account with 24 - 48hours.
Do you offer online consultations?
Yes, we offer online consultations via Facetime or ZOOM. At Live Bright Physiotherapy we want to be able to reach as many people as we can, regardless of your location.
